VOIP Phones
VoIP uses your internet connection to make voice calls instead of a normal phone line. There are many advantages and cost savings available by doing this. VoIP to VoIP calls are completely free and VoIP to landline are extremely competitive (even more so for international calls).
The phones look exactly like normal phones and work in the same way, except your voice is transmitted digitally across a network instead of an analogue phone system. People calling you from a landline cannot tell the difference and you can have many 'lines/numbers coming in through one broadband connection.
This convergence of data and voice communications services onto a single network brings with it the benefits of lower capital costs, simplified support and configuration procedures and increased integration of remote sites and branch offices into the corporate network facilities.
VoIP phones are designed to be portable. If, for example, you wanted to work from another office or home, simply plug your phone into your home network or broadband router and it will work with the same number (or same extension).
In most cases, when a network is already in place, there is no need for additional cabling systems. VoIP phones use standard CAT5 cabling - generally the same as that used in most internal data networks.
